TREVETHIN ST CADOC CHURCH Monmouthshire, is a parish in the Abergavenny hundred, one mile fron Pontypool.It includes the townships of Aberyschan, Pontnewydd and Pontypool. Most work in the coal mines, ironworks or lime pits.
The west tower is the only part of the medieval building to survive and even that may have been re-faced in the 18th century. In 1801 the church was said to have white-washed battlements, a nave, north aisle and chancel. The tower was probably had another six feet added to it in 1846. Major renovations in 1846 included moving the south wall, thus increasing capacity. The new building was consecreted in 1847.
An east window commemorates the 176 men and boys who were killed in an explosion at the Llanerch Colliery on 6th February 1890.
