Longhope All Saints, Gloucestershire
Burgums of what family tree lived here or nearby?
LONGHOPE ALL SAINTS dates back to Norman times although it was heavily restored during the 1860s. The church has a nave, a chancel (rebuilt in 17th century), a north transcept and south transcept. The lower parts of the four stage west tower are late Norman and one window still dates from that period. There is an effigy of a priest from about 1300 in the north transept, while the porch and several windows are also early 14th century. The arms of William III (1650-1702) hang above the door. During the 1860s restoration of the church the tower was partly rebuilt as were the north vestries.
There is also a Zion Baptist Chapel on nearby Hopes Hill.
