CHRISTCHURCH at Berry Hill, in Gloucestershire, was built with local stone in the Gothic Style. A chapel was built in 1812 on land donated by Thomas Morgan, a Forest of Dean collier who could not read or write. He donated a field and five guines to begin the project. The chapel was also used as a schoolroom and over 300 pupils attended in the first week. In 1813 a new schoolroom was built with two fireplaacess and a partition down the middle. Construction cost £300, £200 being donated by Rev. Proctor, vicar of Newland.
The church has a double nave and apsidal chancel, a north and south aisle and a embattled western tower with pinacles. In 1816 the church was doubled in size and an organ was installed in 1885. The church was reseated in 1913. The churchyard is large, taking burials from Coalway, Broardwell, Mile End, Cannop, Lydbrook and Berry Hill.
