This photograph shows the Guiness Book of Rugby Fact & Feats by Terry Godwin. On page 215 is an article entitled John Burgum Referee for all Seasons. John Burgum was born 28th August 1925 in Birmingham. The article marks the retirement of John as a Rugby referee in 1982 after he had completed 29 years on the county panel and 36 years of service in all. Although he had retired as a referee, he continued to serve as a touchjudge. He had been secretary of the rugby club when he attended Exeter University, and went on to success at the Devon Society in 1946 and the North Midlands Society after that. Terry Goodwin describes him as one of the best referees in the country and was even considered for international service. John died 1st October 2011.
Biddy Burgum was born in Birmingham in 1927. She became an England International hockey player and also taught at Bedford and Chelsea PE Colleges. She became a respected hockey coach teaching new talent and the more experienced, conducting hockey coaching courses. Inside this Hockey Field magazine, the "s"sPlayer"s Newspaper"" she had a column entitled "s"Biddy Burgums" Schoolgirls" Columns"". This copy is dated 21st December 1974.

Biddy was born in Birmingham, daughter of Wiliam and Florence (Saward) Burgum, part of the "QQ" family tree.
