Old Buckenham All Saints, Norfolk
Burgums and Burghams lived here, or nearby.
OLD BUCKENHAM ALL SAINTS lies in a small village 18 miles south-west of Norwich. The was, almost certainly, a saxon church on the site, but first mention of it comes in a document of 1254. The 14th century tower is octaganal and encases an earlier round tower. The nave and chancel are thatched and most of the is early 14th century, although a doorway is late Norman and parts of the nave appear to have Norman origins.
The eastern part of the chancel was rebuilt during restoration in 1858, but in keeping with the earlier period. The oak north door is dated 1637. The nave rafters were repaired above the shallow arched windows in 1897.
