Deane Parish Church
DEANE ST MARY´S CHURCH is in the township of Rumworth, in Bolton. There was a chapel here in Saxon times, but the earliest record is from the Norman era in 1100. It was initially in the parish of Eccles and did not become a parish in its own right until 1541. The existing church dates from 1452 and the tower and north door are older than the other parts of the building.

The church was restored in the 1880's. It has a chancel, a nave and north aisle, a south aisle, south porch and west tower. The tower is 14th century, while other parts of the church were built over time in the 15th and 16th centuries. The roof over the nave and chancel an oak panelled, flat pitch roof built in 1884. The tower walls are four foot thick and has an embattled parapet and angle pinnacles.
