| ALVERSTOKE ST MARY'S CHURCH, is of medieval origin, but has been restored and changed over time. The church was completely replaced by the present structure, built in the decorated style, between 1863 and 1885. The chancel was built in 1865, its' wide nave constructed in 1885, which had five arches, a south porch and a western tower crown with corner pinnacles built in 1906.
Although this is a grand Victorian church, this building was constructed some 80 years after Thomas was buried in the graveyard here. |
