MORFIFORD HOLY ROOD lies in the village of Mordiford, just 4 miles south-east of Hereford. The village is built near a crossing of the river Lugg, shortly before it flows into the River Wye. The church stands at a crossroads in the village centre, near the bridge. Following a flood in 1811 the church was repaired and altered and then modified again during a resoration in 1868-1870. The church is medieval with a nave and a chancel with a central tower. Following the flood the original tower was dismantled at an angle to the nave. The 1868-70 restoration added a four-bay arcade to the nave and a vestry added to the chancel.
