
Obituary of Mrs Clara See, nee Burgum, daughter of A.T. Burgum, published June 29th, 1952
Last Rites Held Tues. At Arthur For Mrs See
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Arthur Tuesday afternoon, for Mrs Clara See, mother of Mrs Stella Brayton, and a pioneer resident of the Arthur community.
She passed away in St. Francis hospital at Breckenridge, Minn. on Sunday. Rev. Richard Holden, pastor of the church, assisted Rev. Leslie Burgum of Jamestown, officiate at the services.
Rev. Burgum is a nephew of the deceased. Phil Farnham sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer". He was accompanied by Victor Campbell at the organ.
Burial was in the Arthur cemetery. The Joseph Vertain and Sons Funeral Home of Breckenridge was in charge.
Mrs. See was born in Herefordshire, England May 18, 1871, and came to America while still an infant and settled in Iowa. When she was 11 years old, they came to North Dakota in a covered wagon and settled in Arthur. She had been a resident of that vicinity until four years ago when she moved to Breckenridge, Minn.
On October 15, 1889, she was married to John See of Arthur, at Casselton. He preceded her in death in 1935. Also preceding her were a son, John William, in 1918 and three daughters in infancy. She is survived by one son Anothy T. See of Fargo; six daughters, Mrs Harry (Annie) Dohman and Mrs Clarence (Gladys) Dohman, both of Breckenridge, Minn.; Mrs Lawrence (Minnie) Eaton, Sandstone, Minn. Mrs Stella Brayton, Hunter, Mrs Lee (Millie) Dohman, Milnor; and Mrs Harry (Maggie) Henry, Ottawa, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs Annie Bayard, Minneapolis and Mrs Edith Farnham, New York City; two half sisters, Mrs Zana McAdams of North Hollywood, Calif. and Mrs Elizabeth Scott of Arthur; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs See enjoyed good health until this illness. She was always an active person and lived for her family and many friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very fond of her and she was a devoted grandmother.
