Washburn - Services for Gordon Burgum, 88, Washburn, will be held 10am Saturday at United Methodist Church, Washburn, ND. He died Wednesday at Northwood Deaconess Hospital.
Mr Burgum was born July 6, 1888, at Arthur, where he grew up and married Olga Schur Nov. 16 1910. He attended College of St Thomas, St Paul, Minn., and Dakota Business College, Fargo. He was employed with the Arthur Elevator Co., until 1918, when he moved to Washburn and worked for the First National Bank. In 1924 he became a rural Washburn mail carrier, retiring in 1958. For the past 2 1/2 years he had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Home, Larimore.
Mrs Burgum died Oct 10, 1965. He leaves two sons, James, Larimore, and John, Bismarck; three daughters, Mrs Chet (Margaret) Plasterer, Mrs Kenyon (Marion) Stevens and Mrs Ray (Edith) Sheldon, all of Washburn; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Leslie R., Bismarck; and two sisters, Mrs Ollie Waxler, Arthur, and Mrs Lillie Hager, Ellis.
