
Dan C. Burgum, Veteran Showman, Dies in Kansas City. Was Manager of Paramount Theatre Here for 11 years. Dan C. Burgum of Greenville, manager of the Paramount Theatre for 11 years and prominent in Masonic circles, died in Research Hospital at Kansas City at 2.30 o'clock this morning of peritonitis. Mr and Mrs Burgum left here several weeks ago for Kansas City for a visit with their son Horace Burgum, where he was stricken with illness.
A veteran showman, Mr Burgum was manager of Theatre in Des Moines, Iowa for many years. He came to Greenville in 1926 to assume management of the Paramount Theatre here. Mr Burgum was widely known in theatrical circles. In Des Moines and in Pittsburgh he was connected with the larger theatres, coming to Greenville from the Iowa city. During his residence here he was prominent in civic affairs as a member of the Kiwanis club. For several years Christmas lighting for Greenville's streets was under his supervision.
Mr Burgum was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge 286, the Chapter and Commandery of the York rite and of Wahabi Shrine Temple of Jackson. He was also a member of Emmett N. Thomas Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
He leaves his wife; one son Horace Burgum and a daughter, Mrs Jack Keenin, of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services will be held from the Tho. Walters' Funeral Home in Kansas City at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
