James G. Burgum, formerly of Larimore, North Dakota, died on Sunday 17th November 1996 at the Griggs County Nursing Home, Cooperstown. He was 69.
James Gordon Burgum was born 14th May 1927, in Washburn, North Dakota, where he grew up and attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946, when he returned to Washburn. On 29th November 1955 he married Lorraine Eslinger and they lived in Pierre, SD, where he worked in construction. In 1965, they moved to Larimore, where he worked in the civil service at Grand Forks (N.D.) Air Force Base. He retired in 1988 and later moved to Cooperstown.
James' father was Gordon Bradley Burgum, grandson of A.T. Burgum. James had three children; Debra, Kathryn and Roland (Roland died in 1988). His three sisters, Margaret Plasterer, Marion Stevens and Edith Sheldon all live in Washburn.
