An iron foundry existed here in 1823 using water from Soudley Brook. The current Camp Mill building began life as a corn mill and was built in 1876. It went through several other uses including leather boarding (Dulcote Leatherboarding Company; 1902-1911), a sawmill (James Joiner, 1920-1952), a piggery and then a scrapyard.
