Biddy Burgum - (1927- )

Australian Girls Win Hockey
Australian player J. Marshall (right) gets the hall past J. Brailhwaite and B. Burgum, of England, in their women's international hockey match at Folkstone, Kent, last week. Australia won, 2 - 1. It was England's first defeat in three years.

Biddy was born in Birmingham, daughter of Wiliam and Florence (Saward) Burgum, part of the "QQ" family tree.

John Burgum - Coal Merchant

John Burgum was born to George and Amelia (Millington) Burgum, at Birmingham, England, in 1845. He was the fifth of eight children. Both he and his younger brother William (1847-1926) became successful coal merchants. John married Sarah Dudley in 1868 at Perry Barr, Birmingham.

John and Sarah's son John Ernest Burgum and his wife Sarah Jane Biddle Burgum moved to Maine in the USA, where another branch of the American Burgums began.
